It
is sad times for the duo of Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha and his
son-in-law and intended replacement, Uche Nwosu, as they have been disowned by
the Imo State chapter of the Action Alliance (AA) after rumours made the round
in the past week that the duo had joined the party to actualize Nwosu’s
governorship ambition.
Comrade
Ifeanyi Okponwa-Eze, the State Publicity Secretary of AA, who revealed the
party’s stand while fielding questions from newsmen, after their meeting at
Urualla, Ideato North local council area of the state, said both of them were
not members of the party.
In his words, “We want to be unequivocal on
this issue. Governor Okorocha ceased being a member of AA, over 10 years ago.
AA is neither a dump site nor a waste yard. It is a party where power truly
belongs to the masses. We are not ready to make AA a platform for the breeding
of future emperors or render it vulnerable for contamination by emperor-like
spirit.”
Ifeanyi
went on to say that the reason the party decided to address the rumour was
because it had become palpable that the party’s National Chairman, Mr. Kenneth
Udeze, directed the state executive to “commence a tour of the 27 local council
areas, to properly inform members of the true position of the Governor and his
son in-l Do you
think Okorocha will still find a way to ensure Nwosu succeeds him? Air your
thoughts in the comments section.aw”.
